Soon after Ian Fels and Victoria Roos were married they took the next plunge into farming in 2012. Having long been a dream of theirs, the land option presented itself and
the first seed was planted.
Ian and Victoria make their home in the View Ridge neighborhood of Seattle along with a clutch of chickens and a couple cats.
Victoria is also a photographer as well as a long-time employee at a local media company. And she likes to make sweaters for small animals.
Ian came back to the farming of his youth after serving in the US Coast Guard and being a snowboard shop owner. It is also rumored that he enjoys a nice twenty-sided die.
Once a year, Mezza Luna Farms offers an eager intern the opportunity to come to work with Farmer Fels. This is a work-based internship with most learning happening in the field alongside an experienced farmer.
Great Educational Opportunity: You will get well-rounded, hands-on experience with small-scale vegetable farming, including exposure to propagation, irrigation, soil preparation, weed management, season extension techniques, harvesting, insect & disease control, marketing, etc..
Internships are unpaid but participants receive a full CSA membership.
